This recipe for Braai Sweet Chili Thai Prawns is a delicious grilled treat that combines the sweetness of chili with the fragrant flavours of Thai cuisine. The prawns are grilled to perfection over hot coals, making it a perfect dish for summer barbecues.
Ingredients:
– 1 kg of fresh or frozen prawns
– 2 cloves of garlic, minced
– 4 tablespoons of sweet chili sauce
– 2 tablespoons of fish sauce
– 1 teaspoon of fresh ground black pepper
– 1 tablespoon of sesame oil
– 2 tablespoons of freshly squeezed lime juice
– 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh cilantro
– 2 tablespoons of honey
Directions:
1. Preheat the BBQ grill to 200 degrees celsius.
2. Mix together the garlic, sweet chili sauce, fish sauce, black pepper, sesame oil, lime juice, cilantro and honey in a small bowl to create a marinade.
3. Place the prawns in a large bowl and pour the marinade over them, making sure to coat the prawns evenly.
4. Place the prawns on the preheated grill and cook for 5-7 minutes, flipping them over halfway through.
5. Once the prawns are cooked through, remove them from the heat and serve with extra sweet chili sauce, lime wedges and freshly chopped cilantro.
