This delicious and easy Braai Pineapple Teriyaki Prawns recipe is perfect for a summer BBQ. It combines succulent prawns with a sweet-tangy pineapple teriyaki marinade for a unique flavor. The prawns are grilled over a medium-high heat for just a few minutes so that they remain juicy and succulent. To make the marinade, you’ll need pineapple juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, garlic, and ginger.
Ingredients:
- 1 kg prawns, peeled and deveined
- 1 cup pineapple juice
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1 tbsp sesame oil
- 2 tbsp honey
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp grated ginger
- 1 tsp cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Directions:
- In a medium bowl, mix together pineapple juice, soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, garlic, and ginger. Stir until combined.
- Add the prawns to the marinade and let sit for 30 minutes.
- Preheat grill to medium-high heat (200°C).
- Remove the prawns from the marinade and discard the marinade. Thread the prawns onto skewers.
- Grill the prawns for 2-3 minutes per side, or until cooked through.
- Meanwhile, in a small saucepan, dissolve the cornstarch in the water. Stir in the marinade and bring to a simmer over low heat.
- Simmer for 5-7 minutes, or until the sauce thickens. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Brush the prawns with the teriyaki sauce and serve.
