  • 1 tablespoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • For the Mango Jalapeño Sauce:

  • 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and chopped
  • 1/2 cup fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 2 jalapeño peppers, seeded and chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

  1. In a large bowl, combine the prawns, olive oil, garlic, ginger, paprika, cayenne pepper, cumin, coriander, turmeric, cinnamon, and cardamom. Stir to combine and season with salt and black pepper. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
  2. Preheat a braai grill to medium-high heat (about 200°C).
  3. Remove the prawns from the marinade and place them on the grill. Grill for about 2-3 minutes per side, or until the prawns are cooked through.
  4. While the prawns are cooking, make the mango jalapeño sauce. In a blender, combine the mangoes, lime juice, honey, jalapeño peppers, garlic, and cilantro. Blend until smooth and season with salt and black pepper.
  5. Transfer the sauce to a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until it starts to simmer. Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  6. Remove the prawns from the grill and transfer to a serving plate. Drizzle with the mango jalapeño sauce and serve immediately.
  7. Enjoy!
