Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup butter, melted
  • 1 1/4 cups cold water
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom

Directions:

  1. In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, cardamom, and salt. Stir in the melted butter until combined.
  2. Add the cold water and mix until a dough forms.
  3. Roll the dough into small balls, about the size of a golf ball.

  6. Remove from heat and let cool for 10 minutes.
  7. Dip the cooled koeksisters into the cardamom syrup and let cool on a wire rack.
  8. Enjoy!
