Tomato-based braai sauce


  • 1 cup ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste


  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, honey, garlic, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, and smoked paprika.
  2. Cook the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it starts to simmer.
  3. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  4. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  5. Let the sauce cool down to room temperature.
  6. Use the sauce to baste your meat during the braai (barbecue), or serve it on the side as a dipping sauce.
