  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice wine or mirin
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 tbsp toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
  • Vegetable oil, for grilling

Instructions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine soy sauce, brown sugar, rice wine, sesame oil, garlic, green onions, black pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Whisk together until well combined.
  2. Add the sliced beef short ribs to the marinade and mix until the ribs are well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat, or preheat your broiler.
  4. Remove the ribs from the marinade and shake off any excess marinade.
  5. Brush the ribs with a little vegetable oil to prevent sticking to the grill or broiler.
  6. Grill or broil the ribs for about 3-4 minutes per side, or until nicely charred and cooked through.
  7. Transfer the ribs to a serving platter and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds. Serve immediately with rice and your favorite side dishes.
